Who We Are

Mariya Manzhos and Rachel Rueckert met in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as graduate students, where they bonded over their shared passion of books, stories, and writing.  After a decade of friendship, they decided to form this business.

 

Mariya Manzhos

Mariya has been a journalist and writer for over a decade, with a particular interest in capturing the complexities of human experience and the impact of major social issues on the lives of ordinary people. Over the years, she’s interviewed and profiled educators, artists, small business owners, firefighters, doctors, government officials, immigrants, refugees, and many others.

A native of Kyiv, Ukraine, she’s always been drawn to stories of belonging and finding home in its various forms. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, The Washington Post Magazine, The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, among other publications. She earned a master’s in journalism from Boston University.

Rachel Rueckert

Rachel is a writer, editor, and anthropologist with an unshakable belief in the power of storytelling. She earned a master’s in education from Boston University and an MFA in nonfiction from Columbia University, where she taught Contemporary Essays and completed her first book. She’s interviewed people all over the globe and writes nonfiction, poetry, and fiction. Her work has featured in mainstream publications and literary magazines such as The Washington Post, The Independent, The Literary Review, Columbia Journal, and others.

With a devotion for not only writing, but also teaching and editing, she has spent the past five years working with authors on fiction and nonfiction manuscripts.
